There are few designers who’ve referenced their heritage for inspiration quite like Domenico Dolce. With partner Stefano Gabbana, he put together a new icon of brutish alure with their men’s Spring-Summer 2020 Collection shown last week during Milan Fashion Week.

Titled ‘Sicilian Tropical’, the show set D&G darling, Marcello Mastroianni, as its main protagonist. With heavy references to the 1950s – and mix and match shirts with large structures a vague reference to the 80s – the show’s 199 looks were washed over with the sensual music and voice of Barry White.

You’re getting the feel for things now?

Taking the island’s semi-tropical landscape, music, nature, and animals as the starting point, Dolce & Gabbana delivered a collection of timeless elegance and high tailoring with an eccentric touch.

Seen through their eyes, Spring-Summer 2020 is essentially Italian, handmade, and impeccable quality topped with their unique interpretation of the Sicilian sartorial essence.
